Jackie Davy, Remedial Massage Therapist
Jackie is a recent graduate in remedial massage therapy from Q Academy in Brisbane and is looking forward to locuming occasionally at Niggles and Knots around her regular work at No More Knots (you can find her at the Newmarket branch if you enjoy her treatments and want ongoing treatments with her!).
Jackie has enjoyed several months treating in local clinics but was keen to work at the clinic which she herself would go to be treated (yes she’s a long time Niggles & Knots client!). A big believer in the power of some quiet, Jackie was drawn to Niggles and Knots as a place for both an amazing massage but also some time out for the nervous system.
As a therapist, Jackie enjoys partnering with her clients for individualised treatments. She listen’s to her clients to get the whole picture and treats accordingly, working with the client’s own goals. Her clients say she has a calm vibe and they leave feeling like they’ve been listened to. Jackie’s remedial treatments usually incorporate myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy (for example trigger pointing), muscle energy techniques and stretches within a swedish massage framework. A versatile therapist, Jackie loves treating all body types, and issues. She has worked in a ‘day spa’ environment and a large sports remedial clinic and enjoyed both immensely.
Jackie has always had an interest in natural health, specifically the relationship between our physical and emotional health. She studied psychology at university, writing her thesis on the acute effects of exercise on anxiety and stress. Still interested in psychology, moods and personality psychology, Jackie is interested in the “highly sensitive person” concept (Elaine Aron) and loves the idea of massage to combat over-stimulation.
Jackie’s favourite things are being silly with her two children and nieces and nephews (her last career was in early childhood education) and laughing at her bull-mastiff and shih-tzu. Aside from laughter as medicine (very important) for her own health, Jackie treats herself with yoga, walking to music, herbs, food and being near trees and she loves making her own oil blends for mood (she enjoys occasionally treating with some geranium, mandarin, chamomile and marjoram in her massage oil).
